Recommended Hardware

• Multi Processors, High CPU.
• 2GHz or faster recommended. Current Intel Xeon processors ("Sandy Bridge") will generally clock over 3GHz.
• There should be 2 cores per simultaneous file.
• Try to match cores to expected workloads; Goal is to not overspend ($$) if workflow isn't there or underspend and always have a backed encoding queue.
• Try to also understand file formats being worked with certain codecs can be multi-threaded, certain codecs cannot.
• 4GB RAM or 2GB per physical processor core recommended.
• Motherboard with High Throughput. Because you want as many bits going from Memory->Disk->CPU.
• GPU's Optional, but recommended for H.264 encoding.
• Database should be on another server if possible for best performance, as Squeeze Server will attempt to use as close to 100% of the available compute resources as possible and still keep the system responsive to new requests.
